Y4 - Robin Wood 2025
Lesson: Curriculum
Class: Year 4 Year: 2024 - 2025
Day 1 Summary
Good morning everyone,
We’ve had a brilliant start to our residential! We arrived at 11 AM, unpacked, and got settled into our rooms before meeting our three fantastic group leaders. After a quick lunch, we jumped straight into our first set of activities.
The children will be rotating through a range of activities over the next few days. Yesterday, different groups tackled kayaking, trapeze, crate stacking, caving, nightline, high ropes, and the infamous piranha pool. There was lots of encouragement, laughter, and a few wobbly knees—but everyone gave it a go and supported each other brilliantly. Teamwork and determination were on full display!
After dinner, we squeezed in one more activity and then rounded off the evening with some fun team challenges. The children were split into four teams (yes, the teachers had a team too!) and took on Dingbats, Pong, the elastic band challenge, and the tricky inner tube squeeze—all fast-paced and full of laughs.
The children are up, dressed, and ready to go for day 2!
We’ll share more updates and photos later tonight or first thing in the morning.

Day 2 Summary
Today has been brilliant!
We were treated to glorious sunshine, and the children absolutely rose to the occasion, completing six amazing activities. Today's adventures included the Nightline, Giant Swing, Canoeing, Raft Building, Archery, the Piranha Pool, and a trip into the Dungeon.
One thing that’s really stood out—noticed by both the group leaders and all the staff—is how much the children have grown in their teamwork and communication. Over the past two days, we've seen them embrace new challenges, lift each other’s spirits, and push through their worries with incredible support for one another.
We've had full submersions in the raft-building challenge (yes, the water was cold!), some high-stakes races in both canoes and rafts, and impressive problem-solving in the Nightline blind trail. Children have cheered each other on to climb higher on the climbing wall, supported their teammates through tricky tasks, and even taken the leap on the trapeze—a real moment of bravery for many. Not to mention some impressive aim and focus during archery, with a few bullseyes to celebrate.
So many children have proudly shared their highlights with us—whether that’s scaling new heights, conquering water fears, or simply building rafts that (mostly) stayed afloat!
After a hearty dinner, we ended the evening with one more round of games and are now winding down for a well-earned rest. Tomorrow, we’ve got three more exciting activities before we head home to Dean Valley.
Hope you've had weather as sunny as ours, and we’ll see you all tomorrow!
